"I don't get what all the fuss is about." An observation by Ramsey A. Bear on the current brouhaha about M855.

I was kibitzing with the estimable R.A. Bear the other day and he had this dry observation on the current brouhaha about M855. "I don't get what all the fuss is about. You know, without getting into whether or not green tip is in fact armor piercing, it strikes me that while armor-piecring ammunition is of some utility in defeating a predatory raid party, you certainly don't need AP to shoot the tyrannical politician or judge who sent them."

Great observation. I myself prefer to use a finely braided length of manilla tied in a specific loop of 13 turns, to dispose of said judges or politicians.

That may be true, but we have to survive the sent ones first.Ha

Mr. Bear is of course correct, what worries me is that if they succeed with M855, that will only be the start, and ultimately those of us with AR-15's will end up with nothing but expensive clubs suitable only for hanging over the mantel.

It seems like nobody is making the connection:some states have laws making possession of "armor-piercing" a felony. I'm sure they use the federal definition for deciding that. They are shifting the Overton Window, again.

It is already banned!

The actual start was months ago when they banned 7n6 for the 5.45x39. Hardly anyone raised their voice against it then because it didn't directly affect most gun owners. Emboldened, the ATF is now going after something more common to test the waters.

It all reminds me of this:

" 'First they came ....' is a famous statement and provocative poem written by Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the cowardice of German intellectuals following the Nazis' rise to power." Look it up.

Without the ammo, you can still use your weapon as a prop at the next demonstration.

And you don't need the ammo to continue threatening and otherwise bullying your fellow citizens with words and other gestures.

Started months ago? What about 7.62 many years ago? Heck, what about decades ago with the GCA itself? And decades before that with the first?

Where it began isn't the thing to argue about, just as whether or not folks "need" AP ammo. Ending it, the infringement, now, is what we must unite around.

Maybe, the various armories housing all that 'surplus' m855, among the Several States, need to be 'liberated' -the old fashioned way (i.e., circa 1775).

Unless you are in a pandemic-fire-from-the-sky kind of armageddon scenario, messing with a military armory would be monumentally stupid. They do not have any ammunition in them anyway. Messing wih an ammo depot would be just as stupid.

You have to be smarter than that.

RA Bear misses the point of bitching about 855 altogether.

Today=M855
Tomorrow=69gr SMK's because ______.

Any suggestions Anonymous March 9, 2015 at 3:16 PM? After throwing a wet blanket on liberating M855 ammunition in the several states with feral armories, what smarter things should real Americans be encouraged to do to take their country back from the "progressive" collectivists? Other than voting right which was recently done to no apparent good account.

M855 is offered in a 200 rd battle pack by a well known sportsman's catalog I just received in today's mail. The 200 rd pack is approx $76. So much for marketing fear of BO or ATF.

I would highly disagree. I know of at least two National Guard armories that hold enough ordinance to level Cleveland a good ten times over in terms of actual small arms round count. Never mind all the big stuff.
I can tell you if you breach the perimeter of one of them, every state highway patrolman in the area, the local cops, you name it
will be on you in under five minutes. That doesnt count the 200 or more Guardsmen who will come looking for you with everything but the kitchen sink.
Kids, those motivated enough wont go that route anyway. And the smart ones will remember Richard Marcinko and the reason Red Cell was put together. You are only limited by your own imagination and creativity.

Few understand the joys of torturing those who would bend you over by turning their own rules and incompetence against them. But I do.

i see no reason to even consider raiding any arsenal. If I have truly and correctly absorbed the tenets of 4th gen warfare, then I must assume my kind of hunting would be highly selective and the ends must absolutely be worth the means by which I pursue it.

God will provide that which you do not have. I am more concerned that it be His will infused with my actions. I know if I hurt innocent people He will come to claim my head. Which is why I have no sympathy nor regret if I hear of evil men meeting their justly deserved reward. They had their shot to help their fellow man and swore oaths to do so. They negated Gods protection the moment they put their filthy hands on His book and lied.

God loves us and indeed will aid us all one on one in our individual fight to come no matter how that battle may come. But we have to honor Him if we hope to prevail.
Thats how I see it.

Bondmen,

Okay, I'll give you just one of the answers. Supplies are controlled by supply sergeants. And no, killing is not the answer.

Extrapolate from that what you will.

Well, shit. Soft point ammo is better at creating damage in flesh, and no one I know is limited to FMJ by some silly international agreement.

Fuck em. Soft point and hollow point. If you want to blow through armor, you want 7.62 anyway. Fucking idiots....
