Could-a, would-a, should-a. Another teen mob strikes in Memphis

“Had I had been armed we would have had a lot of kids laying in the Bellevue street that night,” Sharon Mourning said.

Ah, but she was armed. She had a 3000 lb. missile in her possession. A group of idiots on motorcycles stopped traffic on a highway in NYC a year or two back and when approached by some of the two-wheeled hoods the driver of one car, who feared for his family inside, hit the gas and rolled over a few of the merry-makers. One of the bikers was even an off-duty NYPD, which with daily NY papers had even more fun with. So a car will work pretty good in these situations AND you're already licensed to have one.Once you're being attacked all bets are off for the assailant and use whatever weapon is at your disposal to save your own skin.

Since the expansion of 'The Castle Doctrine' in N.C. a year or so ago, the use of 'deadly force' is legal if you're in your motor vehicle and are in fear of serious bodily harm or death.

Looks to me like Tenn. needs to adopt that similarity in their laws. I'm willing to bet that after a number of these rowdy punks are laying in the street bleeding, dying or dead, that crap will tone down.

Reminds me of when Bernie Goetz was on the NYC subway and the 4 black punks went after him and got shot. Things on the subway toned down for some time because no one knew who was armed and might shoot their ass.

Agree with the sentiment entirely, however, that being said- if Ms. Mourning were white, utterances like that would have raised the ire of all the race baiters who would have "demanded" such be prosecuted as a "hate crime" by the "justice" dept.

This is the extent of bias in this nation- its ok for a black woman to make positive assertions to her right to self defense, but a white person better not even dream it.

"You go to jail, you get out." "If you don't, you're down with people you know."

The television station's report indicates that area youth see no alternative but "thug life."

When they start beating business employees, the elderly, and mothers, it is obvious that society has lost control to the punks.

Better to build more corrections facilities so the punks can be "down with people they know," than put up with them terrorizing society.

Ms. Mourning certainly has the right idea.

If we can't properly acknowledge what a problem is we can't begin to solve it and we need to solve this one peacefully (as peacefully as possible at least) before time runs out.

I love how the media labels these incidents as "teen mobs" in an attempt to hide the fact that they are predominately black. I guess these attacks have gotten so widespread that they can't ignore them anymore like they have been doing for the last several years. Of course by omitting the physical description of the suspects they tell those of us who pay attention precisely what they wanted to hide.

We don't want one of these mobs to run up on a white concealed carrier because when that person defends themselves and it results in numerous dead and wounded black teens the black community will riot and target whites for revenge killings in a way that has never been seen before (we've seen it happen dozens of times before with the LA Riots, the Crown Heights Riots, after the Trayvon Martin incident, going on now in and around Ferguson, and numerous other incidents). Once that gets started it's only a matter of time before the whites respond in kind and the real horror begins.

One or two dead ones would put an end to this silliness. Of course when they send someone to arrest you for doing it, you'd have to shoot those persons too. It could get messy...

This is the logical consequence of the 2008 "Black Panther Party Voter Intimidation: case. Attorney General Holder refused to prosecute, insinuating that racial bigotry was not applicable when the felons were black.

Now, the same kind of violence is being perpetrated via "Black on Black" assaults, because the people who choose to relieve their ennui via outrageous acts of uncivilized behavior know that they will not be required to face the consequences of their violent actions.

It almost seems as if, according to the news reports, young black men are accorded a special privilege to act in accordance to their mood, rather than to consider that they are part of society ... and should act responsibly.

I know it's not a racial problem. It's a societal problem. Does anyone suggest that these young men were NOT raised by single mother, who soon learned that she was not able to teach them how to act?

I've read Michael Bane speak of how Memphis has always been a rough town, even back when he was a kid. Tom Gresham, of Gun Rights Radio does defensive shooting training in the area, and fifty-odd students of his have "seen the elephant",almost all successfully. _THAT_ tells me all I need to know about the town.
