GOP already negotiating surrender before the victory. This election will not save us. We will, in the fullness of time, have to save ourselves.

So, the permanent political class views the Tea Party folks as barbarians at the gates, but figure that even if they get inside, decadent Rome will tame them.

Washingtonians involved in the political or policy process believe overwhelmingly that tea party candidates will not “be able to bring change to Washington.” Only 11 percent of D.C. insiders polled said they thought the tea party could bring change, compared with 77 percent who did not.

The collectivist chattering class types such as Roger Simon in a column entitled "Obama vs. the loonies" are seeking solace in the destruction of their big plans by comparing the Tea Party folks to insects, much as the Nazis did with the Jews,

If Democrats get swamped on Nov. 2, sure, some of it will be the fault of the enthusiasm gap and some of it will be the fault of the president, but some of it will be the fault of those loonies who have crept into American politics like bedbugs and grown bloated on their own hatreds.

But the GOP, already counting their chickens, have decided in advance to deal with the pack of foxes.

Republicans on the campaign trail are bashing the president and his agenda and some are vowing to shut down Washington if they don't get their way. Behind the scenes, key party members are talking a different game.

A number of House Republicans, including some who are likely to be in the leadership, are pushing a post-election strategy aimed at securing concrete legislation, with the goal of showing they can translate general principles into specific action.

Among the ideas is to bring a series of bills to the floor, as often as once a week, designed to cut spending in some way. Longer term, GOP leaders say they recognize they may have to compromise with Democrats in tackling broader problems.

If they recapture the House, Republicans say they are wary of following the example of the class of 1994, which shut down the government in a standoff with President Bill Clinton. Top Republicans contend that passing legislation, or at least making a good faith effort to do so, will earn them more credibility with voters than refusing to waver from purist principles.

"It's pretty clear the American people expect us to use the existing gridlock to create compromise and advance their agenda," said Rep. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.). "They want us to come together [with the administration] after we agree to disagree."

GOP leaders stressed that this depends on the willingness of President Barack Obama to compromise as well. And some say if the post-election atmosphere is especially toxic, such compromises may be difficult. . .

Under the leadership of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, a rising star, the GOP has recruited a slate of House candidates with an array of political experience, suggesting they know how to work within the strictures of government. In many cases, these aspirants boast of their record of working with Democrats.

The GOP roster doesn't fit the image of an invading revolutionary force. Of the Republicans' 89 "Young Guns," as the party's top House candidates are called, 55 have political experience. Five are former congressmen seeking their old seats back, such as former Rep. Steve Chabot, who served 14 years in the House. The rest are mostly state legislators, a typical path to Congress. Of the 34 newcomers, many are relatively mainstream candidates or aren't expected to win. . .

The sellout of the Tea Party, it seems, is already in the wind.

Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina, who lost his Republican primary to a challenge from the right, compared the GOP candidates to surfers using a tea-party wave to reach the shore. Once they arrive, he said, many will act like the lawmakers they replaced.

"Not every candidate that wins this November with tea-party support will be a tea-party partisan," Mr. Inglis said.

For those whose spirits are soaring in advance of a GOP victory in November, Pete at WRSA directs our attention to Francis Porretto's
warning about wishful thinking
and to Billy Beck's even more pointed observations.

To summarize:

a. We face an existential threat to our liberty, our property, our children's futures and our very lives crafted by both predatory parties.

b. The likelihood of avoiding systemic collapse grows more distant with each passing day, with every dollar bill of fiat currency printed to prolong the disaster.

c. This threat is unlikely to be solved by one election, or any number of elections.

d. Especially when, as we see above, the fix is already in.

Thus, when you are dealing with collectivists who already deny that we are human beings by characterizing us as insects, is there any doubt that this will end in violence, no matter how much we may wish and hope and pray that it does not?

Talking with a good friend the other day, he made the point that the principal difference between the Three Percent and the Tea Party folks is that we say, "or else."

Exactly.

Get ready.

Train.

Lay in supplies.

Network within your community.

This election will not save us.

We will, in the fullness of time, have to save ourselves.

Once again, notice the familiar refrain, "the people are idiots and radicals." They are laying the ground work to justify taking away the last of our liberties by saying we can't be trusted with them, the typical refrain of tyrants.

Everybody tries to characterize the Tea Party, but the truth is that it's a coalition. Some people who would say they're in the Tea Party are also "or else" folks.

Rand Paul is one that will not sell out. And I believe he will effect change in Washington to some degree, like Ron. At the very least, he will be a powerful dissenting voice in the Senate as the ship goes down.

That being said...

Train on.

"..."GOP already negotiating surrender before the victory..."

Did anyone expect anything different?

They're not a different party - but rather the second branch of the SAME party.

"Compromise" has gotten us to where we are today.

"Compromise" is nothing more than a politician's euphemism for INCREMENTALISM.

They want the nanny-state socialism, we want Constitutional Republicanism.

For illustration, let's say "They want $100, we don't want to give them anything."

So, we "Compromise" - and they get $50.

WHO WON? Certainly not The Constitution!!

So now, having talked us out of 1/2 of our Freedom ("dollar$") they take another stab (deliberate metaphor) at it.

"We want $100 - you want $50. Stop being "the party of no!" - stop being "obstructionists"! The People want us to work together!! Blah, blah...

So the Republitards - not smart enough to remember how they got robbed in the last "compromise" (or - more likely - knowing We The People aren't smart enough) do it again.

And so we go to %75. Then $87.50, $93.75, 96.88, 98.44 -- and so on, and on and on.

After 15 such "compromises" we've given away 99.99% of our Freedom to the Collectivists -- and we find ourselves where we are today: backs against the wall, shocked by what's happened.

And yet the Republitards STILL don't seem to get it.

Hey Stupid Party: Let me make it clear for you!

NO!

MORE!

COMPROMISES!!

NONE!

It's time *WE* started demanding **THEY** give something up - time to start ratcheting back Leviathan, time.

In sum, it's time for The Enemy to become the ones who have to "give in" and give up.

Crap - missed my last point...

We The People would be better off with utter gridlock in DC than with a bunch of "compromising" AINOs.

Hey Jackasses: If we wanted to move things in the direction the Demmunists prefer, we'd have simply re-elected THEM.

We didn't.

We elected **YOU** -- because we want YOU to move things OUR WAY for a change - if possible.

If that can't be done, then we'll settle for preventing The Enemy from moving it farther in THEIR preferred direction - which means "gridlock."

With DC shut down, ground to a halt, then We The People can get about the business of cleaning up the mess you clowns made - one more time.

Personally, I don't think ANY of it's going to matter.

Anyone following "foreclosure-gate" has to know that our banks - and thus our Republic - are utterly insolvent. A crash is coming that will make 1929 look like a walk in the park - and the LAST thing anyone's likely to be worrying about is what the morons in SotP are up to...

If Roger Simon is concerned with the loonies, he would do well to read up on the Looney family of Illinois.

John Looney was quite a guy in the world of organized crime back before Capone moved to Chicago. Anyone who saw "Road to Perdition" with Paul Newman and Tom Hanks a few years ago saw a small part of the story.

He's worth looking up, not for the politics, but for the history.

I don't think this election will save us, either. I can only guess at what is coming down the pike. But if the Republicans think that, once they gain office through the backing of the Tea Party it will be "business as usual", they are sadly mistaken.

I only hope that something can be done before the shooting starts, but I'm still stocking up on ammo and awaiting the next "shot heard 'round the world!"

Exactly right, it is inevitable.
This election might slow or even temporarily halt our national direction, but in the end it will continue to march forward. Eventually, an effort will be made to reverse the present course.

Unfortunately, I also believe time is of the essence before we realize restoration will be virtually impossible.

Our surviving veterans who saw tyranny in the Revolutionary War are long gone. The veterans of WWII may have the heart for resistance, but they are now too old to fight. The veterans of Korea and Vietnam are age 60+ and are not exactly eager to come out of retirement. Our next-oldest veterans are those who saw Operation Desert Storm, but they are a different caliber of veteran altogether. Using movie references to summarize with unfair simplicity, there is a world of difference between "The Patriot", "Band of Brothers", "Hamburger Hill", and "Jarhead".

Most of our children and grand-children are foreign to the concept of true Patriotism. Public schools have already indoctrinated them to the idea of being a subject in a ruled society which does not tolerate rule-breakers, free speech, etc.

Many children are being raised today by parents who instill within them the fear of firearms.

Those who enter the military today often do so as a way to pay for college, not as an expression of service to their country. Many of them voted for Obama and support his agenda.

We are soon going to be without those who have the true passion, purpose, and means to bring about restoration. Yet, recruiting volunteers from the current pool of young potentials would be extremely difficult given the fact they have little Patriotism, are accustomed to being governed by strict authorities, and fear firearms. In this entitlement age they want to know what is in it for them, not what might be required of them.

Time is running out. Leaders are hesitant to reveal themselves now, so imagine what it will be like in 20 years. I'm not trying to incite anything here, just saying we are never going to be any stronger than we are today.

We face an existential threat to our liberty, our property, our children's futures and our very lives crafted by MAINSTREAM VOTERS. The politicians and the bureaucrats are merely hirelings. 90% of German adults voted to make Hitler dictator, and it can happen here, too.

"We will, in the fullness of time, have to save ourselves."

The simplest way to save yourself is by stopping being a collectivist. It is wrong to kill people to get what you want. Abandon politics for the evil it is. Stop paying taxes, stop squealing on tax evaders, peaceful illegal immigrants, drug users who don't DUI, etc. Be the change for freedom you want to see.

This election... the Tea Party has an opportunity now to not change Washington but to begin a political revolution at the LOCAL level-your town government where REAL RESULTS can be had. Results that can lay the foundation for a much more effective Tea Party effort in 2012.

Tell your Tea Party candidates, volunteers, whatever; grow some coat tails and have local candidates for local offices.

I love your movie references and agree with them 100 per cent; but when you say:
"The veterans of Korea and Vietnam are age 60+ and are not exactly eager to come out of retirement. " I must add - if the commies want a less bloody war, they will have to wait for all the over 60 guys to die off, because anyone who came through Korea or Nam knows the nastiest and the bloodiest of no mercy / no quarter warfare, and when you'fe over 60 you don't have a hell of a lot to lose... and thus. are much more likely to offer the 'war to the knife and knife to the hilt' form of battle. The PTB are not used to that, nor are their jack booted thug lackeys.

Oh and for Anony 10:33, ytour mildly ambivalent post makes me think you may have been looking for the other blog, "Rainbows and Unicorns In Shangri La dot com."
But maybe I just misunderstood.

"...grown bloated on their own hatreds."

If I didn't know this statement was a propaganda tool I might have told the author that I don't hate anybody. At least I've tried not to. But they've made it hard. It is true that they may be able to create it in me. If they do manage to do what it takes cause that, I promise they won't like the cold results and I know I'm not alone.

But they don't listen and are pretending to be deaf. They tell stories that they think will help them escape. They spend our money to improve their security and protect them from the consequences of their actions. They hire people who will pull the trigger without any thought or remorse and then do worse. It has always been this way throughout history and to my knowledge never avoided. That, is a hard, sobering, thought.

Minimizing the Tea party's significance is a serious mistake; attempting to marginalize them will be political suicide.

As was pointed out in an earlier post, Rand Paul will not be ignored and 55 incoming House freshmen will have ample muscle to form their own caucus. Making them political orphans will create a party faction able to continually monkey wrench the legislative process with resultant gridlock.

"90% of German adults voted to make Hitler dictator, and it can happen here, too." Anon @10:33

This is historical ignorance masquerading as moral certitude.

In the German federal election of March 1933, the National Socialist German Workers Party was elected "First party" with 43.9% of the vote. They were able to muster a bare majority of votes by forming a coalition government with assistance from the German National People's Party (44%+8% =52%).

I think we're talking about different election events. Let me quote from:

http://www.catb.org/esr/writings/anarchist.html

William Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich is one of the most subtly horrific pieces of writing ever uttered. The single most chilling paragraph in a book that does not flinch from describing Nazi atrocities is this one:

On August 19, 1934, 95% of the Germans who were registered to vote went to the polls and 90% (38 million) of adult German citizens voted to give Adolf Hitler complete and total authority to rule Germany as he saw fit. Only 4.25 million Germans voted against this transfer of power to a totalitarian regime.

With this vote, the position of Fuhrer as an amalgam of President and Chancellor -- the elevation of Adolf Hitler to the status of dictator -- was formally and democratically approved by the German people.

Hitler's program was not a secret; nor were the means he proposed to use. 90% of the people voted for Mein Kampf and the Nuremberg rallies and the repudiation of the Treaty of Versailles and Kristallnacht; the mandate was overwhelming.

Since I first published this essay, some people have cited Shirer to different effect, that Hitler actually gained supreme power by an act of the Reichstag on Match 23 1933, and was already dictator at the time of the 1934 elections. This is a quibble. The particular route by which Hitler was able to subvert the Weimar Republic's democracy is far less important than the simple fact that he was able to do so. In fact, accepting the argument that his coup was only supported by a minority of the German people would only make the conclusion of this essay sharper and more painful.

"...The simplest way to save yourself is by stopping being a collectivist. It is wrong to kill people to get what you want..."

We have no intention of "killing people to get what we want" -- that's what THE ENEMY did, does, and will continue to do.

If there's ever any killing done by "our side" it will be in defense of self, loved-ones, and our Republic.

As has been so aptly pointed out, pacifism just makes one an easy victim for The Enemy. Throughout history, it's only worked in situations where the pacifist's opposition are moral, decent people who agreed with the pacifist in principle before the conflict began.

OUR enemies have no such scruples, and would not hesitate to (ab)use any and all options to quell resistance - from murder to "reeducation" camps and worse.

Our Founding Documents made it unmistakable: We have not only the right, but the DUTY to stop such destruction of our Republic.

Do you have *ANY* principle - or person - in your life worth dying for? Worth killing for, if such is made unavoidable by The Enemy?

Anything at all?

Patriots do -- they share the same principles that led Our Founders (peace be upon them) to do the same: POSTERITY.

At times I can scarcely avoid cursing my parents' (and theirs') generation for allowing so much of my freedom and liberty to be stripped from me. I'll not shirk from whatever is necessary to see that my kids don't have reason to think the same of me.

"...Abandon politics for the evil it is. Stop paying taxes, stop squealing on tax evaders, peaceful illegal immigrants, drug users who don't DUI, etc. Be the change for freedom you want to see."

"Abandoning politics only ensures that The Enemy wins. Need proof? OPEN YOUR EYES. King Barack I and his klingon-consort are only polluting the WH with their presence because too many otherwise-good people "abandoned politics" in 2008.

Too many refused to vote for Johnny Jet and... here we are.

Stop paying taxes? Try that and see what will happen to you. Here's a hint: the people who come to take you to jail will have GUNS, and they won't hesitate to use them on you and anyone else who resists - THEY will HAPPILY kill to get what THEY want!

"Peaceful illegal immigrants"? It is TO LAUGH! It would only be funnier if you'd said "Law-abiding illegals." I literally LLOLed...

They're INVADERS. Hundreds of thousands of them are members of MS-13 or other gangs - who are ARMED TO THE TEETH and won't hesitate to kill you either!

90% of what the Federal .gov does is SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED by our constitution - and the things they're EMPOWERED and CHARGED to do by that sacred document (oh, like secure our border!) they're not even bothering to TRY!

The ONLY point on which I agree with you is regarding "drug users" - only because I believe:
*1 that what to do with one's own body and mind (including destroy it) is rightly their own business -- PROVIDED they harm no other person.

*2 The "war on drugs" has done nothing but harm to our Republic - any rise in addiction-related problems would be offset by the freeing of thousands of people and billions of dollars currently wasted by said "war."

The resources wasted in this losing-battle could be used to solve REAL problems - such as securing our borders!

In sum, if this post is an indicator of your intellect, you're an idiot - the very epitome of "sheeple."

DD, I'm so pleased to hear that you've decided to reject "taxation" as a method to fund roads, schools, police, armies, healthcare, retirements, etc.

"As has been so aptly pointed out, pacifism just makes one an easy victim for The Enemy."

I never said pacifism, I said don't hire thugs to stick people up to get the money to spend for stuff you want.

"Abandoning politics only ensures that The Enemy wins."

How's that voting thing working out for ya? The pirates are going to vote themselves into libertarians this November, you betcha.

"Stop paying taxes? Try that and see what will happen to you."

Yes, I know, the pirates will kill me unless I surrender what they demand.

"They're INVADERS. Hundreds of thousands of [illegal immigrants] are members of MS-13 or other gangs - who are ARMED TO THE TEETH and won't hesitate to kill you either!"

Ho-hum. Hundreds of millions of Americans are pirates, their pirate gang is named "voters" and it sails the ship of state. The real threat to me comes from Americans, not migrant Mexicans.
