Defiance in Saint Louis

The Bielski Brothers.

"Without a rifle you are nothing, worthless, you are waiting for death, any minute, any second." -- Aron Bielski

Kurt Hofmann reports that the son of Zus Bielski will speak in St. Louis next week. If you are living near the Gateway City, you should attend to get some of the real story behind the movie Defiance. I wish I lived close enough to do so.

There are folks with similar stories in nearly every community, though they're getting very old, and are largely ignored.

I saw a story in the local paper about the Sutins, and that led me to their son's book:

A local community theater performed a play based on the book. The cognitive dissonance was significant - watching the scene of the Jewish refugees hiding in the woods finally managing to obtain guns (and thus becoming partisans) is one of the most memorable in the play, in a playhouse that was posted "No Guns".

Some folks don't learn even when you do run their noses in it.

Many thanks for the link, Mike. I am honored and humbled (does that combination make sense?).
